The Seniors Ministry Committee attends to the needs of all senior members of the Hills Church, and we find our lives enriched by knowing and learning about this wonderful group of people. We try to be responsive to individual needs, whether a health issue or living situation, and in general work to build community among our seniors and between our seniors and others in the church.
Seniors Ministry responsibilities, coordinated at our monthly meetings, are simple and rewarding. The weekly coffee service in the north narthex is a time to visit with members waiting for the North Hill bus, and committee members often attend the monthly North Hill teas for our parishioners. We also organize and attend monthly “Teas with Judy,” when Rev. Judy Swahnberg offers a reading, or a question for conversation and the committee provides a warm, friendly atmosphere for seniors to feel a sense of belonging and community. An annual highlight is the Christmas Concert for seniors and others, performed by Laurie Otten and John Finney and followed by a festive luncheon.
Want to help? Please join us in getting to know the senior members of our congregation better and to offer a ride, attend a tea or provide baked goods, send a card, or make a call or visit.
