We will discuss the Sections or time periods in this order:
July 10 Section 1 (1415 – 1728) & 2 (1743-1826)
July 17 Section 3 (1826-1879)
July 24 Section 4 (1868 – 1963)
July 31 Section 5 (1963 – Today)
Jason Reynolds wrote Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You based on Ibram X. Kendi’s book, Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America. Both books use the same five-section framework as the history of racist ideas were constructed and spread over centuries. Dismantling racism or discrediting racist ideas begins by understanding their origin and their purpose. If interested, please purchase a book and begin reading. We will meet to discuss the sections on Sundays following worship for approximately an hour. The church has a few copies of Stamped available.
If you have questions or need a copy of the book, please contact Rev. Anne Marie Holloway (annemarie@hillschurch.org) or Rev. Richard Edens (richard@hillschurch.org).
