Looking Ahead Bible Study Begins September 25th @ 9a.m.
An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Sunday, repeating until September 25, 2023
AT NEXT SUNDAY’S SCRIPTURES
Join one or more of the pastors between 9 and 9:45 as we read and discuss the
recommended readings for the next Sunday. On September 25, for example, we will
look at the lectionary readings for October 2. You can assist your preacher in listening
to our Stillspeaking God.
We will meet in the Reception Room beginning promptly at 9am so we can conclude by
9:45 and be ready for worship. Bring your coffee with you and join us as we listen for God’s Word to us in the words of our Scripture.
Typically, Hills Church uses the Revised Common Lectionary to determine the scripture for each Sunday. This lectionary is shared by most mainline Protestant Churches and the Roman Catholic Church which assures worshippers that the major texts of the Bible will be read in this three-year cycle.
While the preacher on a given Sunday most often uses the Gospel Lesson as the catalyst for their sermon, the lectionary offers a reading from the Hebrew scriptures, an Epistle lesson, and a day’s Psalm in addition to the recommended Gospel Lesson. Hope to see you on Sunday at 9am!
