The outreach activity of our church has continued despite the Covid-19 pandemic. The members of the Christian Service Support Board (CSSB) have remained in touch with the organizations which we have supported financially. Here is the seventh in a series of CSSB reports, featuring two more of those organizations.
Community Chaplaincy Council. Rev. Fran Bogle reports than her ministry continues, but is now heavily dependent on the telephone and Zoom. With electronic programming, she continues her regular prayer service, the LGBT support group and at the Scandinavian Living Center retirement home. She visits with children with her chaplaincy dog. When severe illness dictates she visits in person at Newton Wellesley Hospital. She reports that Zoom sessions have been well attended and are much appreciated by people who are mobility impaired or for whom distance would be an impediment.
Grace House is now under the direction of Senior Pastor Eric Rodriguez. They continue to feed souls as well as bodies on Saturdays and Sundays, but for now only on a take-out basis of prepared meals or bulk food. Food is provided by individuals and corporate donors. They are not allowed to distribute clothing. They contact guests via social media or phone, have started a newsletter, and hope to start a mid-week Bible study when restrictions are lifted.
