Bylaw Modifications Proposed for Annual Meeting, January 2016
At last year’s annual meeting, the Realignment Task Force requested and the congregation approved, a suspension of certain provisions in our current By-Laws governing committee sizes and terms.
This year, the RTF will recommend various changes to the By-Laws in the areas of committee structure. In particular, the new structure being recommended will provide for a smaller Church Council, and Ministry Teams to be supported by four (4) Leadership Boards. It is believed that this structure will make it easier for people to volunteer, enhance our ability to minister to ourselves and others, strengthen our commitment to worship and the study of God, and streamline some of the more cumbersome processes currently in place at the church by providing for clearer lines of accountability and decision making.
While this structure is new to the church, over the last two years we have already begun moving in this direction. Most of our existing groups and ministries will remain in place, but should find themselves better supported within a clearer organizational structure. We can anticipate that there will be some additional changes over the coming year as we “live into” this model, but those can be addressed either through changes in Policy, or further amendments to the By-Laws at the next annual meeting.

What is the Realignment Task Force?
The Realignment Task Force was formed by the Church Council early in 2012 to review the committee structure of the church, and bring forward recommendations for the future that assure that our committee and governance structure align with our stated vision for the Hills Church, and meet the needs of our congregation.
