Communion, Baptism and Weddings

Communion

At Holy Communion, we share a simple meal of bread and cup. Here, we experience the presence of Christ again. Together, around God’s welcome table, we recall God’s loving acts especially in Jesus, we experience our oneness in Christ, hope for a time when all will be fed, and anticipate the fullness of God’s love and justice throughout creation.

Our practice is to include Communion in the first Sunday worship service of each month and select holidays. Ours is an open table: all are welcome to receive Holy Communion at the Hills Church!

Baptism

The blessing with water in the Sacrament of Baptism is an outward and visible sign of the grace of God. Through baptism a person is joined with the universal church, the body of Christ. In baptism, God works in us the power of forgiveness, the renewal of the spirit, and the knowledge of the call to be God’s people always.

We celebrate the sacrament of baptism together as we bless with water and welcome a baby, a teen or an adult into the care of our Christian community! People of all ages, who have never been baptised before, can be baptised at the Hills Church! It is also a celebration within the local church family and a recognition of its commitment. For this reason, baptism is usually celebrated in the presence of the community gathered for worship.

Weddings

We welcome couples who have decided to marry to consider having the ceremony at the Hills Church, either in our main sanctuary or in our smaller Wallace Chapel, with a member of our clergy officiating the service. We invite couples contemplating marrying to meet several times with clergy for counseling and to personalize their vows and wedding ceremony. We inclusively welcome all: straight, gay, trans, inter-religious, non-believers, marrying for the first time or another time around – we are happy to help you make your covenantal commitment to each other. There is no requirement that either individual be a member of the Hills Church.

Please contact a minister to learn more about having a baptism or marrying at the Hills Church
