Handbell Choir
Handbell Choir
The Hill Bells can frequently be heard ringing in worship services playing on a 5-octave set of Schulmerich handbells, a 5-octave set of Malmark handchimes and an array of other percussion instruments. The Hills Bells play a varied repertoire that spans the liturgical year and often collaborate with other musicians including the Chancel Choir, the organist, and the Gainsborough Brass.
Beyond worship services, the Hills Bells enjoy sharing their music with the larger community. At Christmas time, they can be found ringing carols with the Salvation Army bell ringer at Roche Bros, ringing on runners at the Angel Run in Medfield, as well as putting on concerts at Waterstone in Wellesley and other community venues.
The Hills Bells is also involved with the larger handbell community. They often attend the biennial Area I Handbell Festival which gives them the opportunity to ring challenging repertoire and to learn new techniques alongside other handbell enthusiasts. They have also hosted the Back Bay Ringers, the Philadelphia Handbell Ensemble, and the Westminster Handbell Choir at the church.
We Welcome Ringers
The Hills Bells is always looking for new ringers and everyone is welcome to join! Ringers do not need to be members of the congregation, but do need to be able to commit to regular rehearsals. If you are interested in joining our fellowship and learning more about handbells, please give us a call.
