WHO WE ARE
The Hills Church is a spiritual home to people from all faith traditions and a broad range of backgrounds.
We hope that you will find joy, comfort and community here.
We were founded in 1847 in the Congregational Trinitarian tradition of New England, with an early commitment to abolition and other nineteenth-century reform movements such as temperance and urban missionary work.
We remain followers of Jesus, guided by the Holy Spirit, striving to carry out God’s will in the here and now.

Our Vision and Mission
We are deeply committed to “the Congregational way” - a form of church governance that rests the mantle of authority and leadership upon its members, rather than upon an ecclesiastical hierarchy.
We are a non-doctrinal church grounded in the insights of the Protestant reformers. This means that while there are no “required beliefs” at the Hills Church, we find great truth and value in the Old and New Testaments and in the claim that it is God's way and will to love us. While we can never earn this love, it is ours nonetheless, given in Christ as a free gift from God.
We hold love at the center as a message for our worship together.
At the Hills Church, we stand as a church that is both traditional and progressive.
For 175 years we have formed our faith together across generations and we are committed to nurturing this faith for generations to come.
We are a congregation of the United Church of Christ.

"As people of faith and followers of Jesus, filled with love, we seek a just world for all by fostering an inclusive, welcoming church comunity - both within our walls and outside of them - where all individuals, regardless of background, identity, race, sexual orientation, gender, or expression, feel valued, respected, supported, and safe. Our mission is to promote social justice, equity, and understanding through education, advocacy, and dialogue, guided by the belief that God's love is at the center of our ministry. When celebrating diversity, we will share the joy of church life with everyone."
