Hand Bells 101: A Introductory Workshop for the Curious
If you have ever listened to the Hills Bells play and thought, “That looks like fun!” “How do they do it?,” “What does it feel like to ring a bell?” then we have the opportunity for you! For those who are just simply CURIOUS about handbells but reluctant to make a commitment to ringing, we are offering a FREE 3-week workshop on bell ringing. It will be run by Katie Stowell and Martha Stowell with the assistance of current Hills Bells ringers. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of handbell ringing along with a smattering of history, mechanics, anecdotes and techniques. At the end of the three weeks, you will have learned basic ringing technique well enough to play a simple piece at an upcoming service. If intrigued, please contact Martha at: cpbranwell@gmail.com.
The day and time is not firm, but we were considering a Monday late afternoon or early evening, and starting the week of November 7. All ages and music abilities are welcome!
For those more than curious, the Hills Bells always welcomes new ringers! Just speak to a current ringer, or contact the director, Martha Stowell.
